INSIDE EQUIFEST
From east to west at SCEC there is something in EVERY build- ing! Starting on the east at Barn 2, you’ll see the annual Kansas Farriers Association competition. On Friday from 9 am to 3 pm, they compete in individual forging, taking raw steel, heating it and building horseshoes. On Saturday, come watch a two-man draft showing competition from 9 am to 10:30 am and after a short break, they reconvene from noon to 4 pm for a live shoe- ing competition!
Next building over is the Stall Barn , also called Exhibition Hall, where the exhibiting horses will be on display. Come see different breeds of horses big and small, decorated stalls and various breed organizations and equine busi- nesses displayed that you may have never known about!
Then you come to Ag Hall Arena . This is the historic brick arena building built with 1922 war bonds. It’s a nostalgic place! Come in and sit awhile with your food truck goodies in hand, snacking and watching one of the demos or com- petitions in the arena. Come see the Draft Horse Challenges, Driving Derby, Barrel Race and the Dressage and Breed Showcase demos.
Head west from there to the 4H Building or Ponderosa as we like to call it! Step inside to find more retail vendors, the KHC Foundation Silent Auction, and many presenters to meet and greet there. On stage, you’ll find some cow- boy poetry and music or catch a live interview broadcast by Better Horses Network! Don’t miss Tom & Pat Seay with Best of America by Horseback and team there too! Parents can bring kids for fun in the Kids Corral at the 4H
Building, featuring unique horse themed games and activities hosted by the Colby Community College Equestrian Team. Plus, Kansas Rodeo Royalty will be around for pictures and autographs.

CLINICIANS
CHRIS COX As one of this country's leading horsemen and clinicians, Chris Cox has spent a lifetime learning from the greatest teach- ers of all, the horse. Raised on a cattle ranch in the wilds of Australia, Chris has had opportuni- ties that most horsemen of this day and age will never experience. With only horses for trans- portation, and a cattle ranch as his life, Chris learned at an early age how to appreciate the abilities and tradition of the great men and hors- es around him.
With his practical, straightforward approach, Chris teaches horse people how to achieve results. Influenced in his early years by both the English and Western traditions, he has implemented a proven style and tech- nique that can be applied universally across all disciplines. Chris has travelled throughout the world doing demonstrations and clinics for nearly 30 years.
• 4 time undefeated Road to the Horse World Champion of colt starting • 2 time Reserve champion Reno Invitational Million Dollar Team Roping
• National Cutting Horse Futurity Finalist • Monty Roberts Equitation of the Year • 2015 inductee Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame
Chris Cox and his wife Barbara, daughter Charley, and son Case split their time between ranches in Mineral wells, Texas and Dubois, Wyoming where he shares his passion of horses with others.

Tom Seay, Best of America by Horseback Tom Seay is the creator, executive producer and host of the national television show, Best of America by Horseback, as seen on RFD- TV and The Cowboy Channel. The show is in it’s 16th consecutive year. On each episode, Tom takes his national television audience to beautiful and historic loca- tions around the country that can be visited by horseback. Tom organized and led riders from all over the country on two “transcontinental” trail rides. The first was in 1995 from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, over 3,000 miles, every step of the way by horseback and the second was in 2009, when he organized and led riders from Mexico to Canada by horseback, accomplishing a longtime dream. Besides the television show, Tom has always farmed and ranched, raising cattle and horses. He offers cattle drives on his Virginia farm each month April – October. Lisa Stewart Lisa D. She is a graduate of Colorado State University and has a B.S. in Wildlife Biology. When Wendy started at Kanopolis, there were 1.5 miles of mapped established trails. After working with Ellen Querner and NTRC in 1992 for a competitive ride, Wendy requested to keep the trails that she and Ellen had laid out and open them for public use. These trails have been mowed and marked every year since 1992 giving Kanopolis 27+ miles of trail open to equestrians. This was the beginning of the equestrian trails and Campgrounds in Kansas State Parks. Wendy has received approximately $480,000 in grants over the years. Most of the grants have come from the National Recreation Trail Grants and the money used to build Rockin’ K Horse Campground, purchase equipment, pur- chase signs and materials. Wendy has done private con- sulting on trails construction. Wendy also serves as a Naturalist in the park, she presents nature programs to approximately 1,000 participants each year.

SPECIAL DEMOS
The First Infantry Division (1ID) Commanding General’s Mounted Color Guard is a special ceremonial unit that provides community relations and ceremonial support to the First Infantry Division, Fort Riley, and the United States Army at the local, regional, and national levels. The CGMCG is one of only seven active equestrian units in the Army. The mission of the CGMCG is unique because Fort Riley was the home of the US Army Cavalry School. The CGMCG helps to continue the historic tradition of the mounted cavalry through demonstrations and community engagement activities. All horses in the CGMCG are bay colored mustangs and quarter horses. The feature, which most distinguishes the CGMCG from other mounted units, is the inclusion of an 1871 covered escort wagon in the formation. The wagon is an original, restored wagon that was used to bring rations and ammunition to resupply cavalry troopers on the battlefield in the western frontier. The Soldiers of the Mounted Color Guard are Fort Riley Soldiers on a two year assignment. They represent all MOSs and ranks. Though some Soldiers arrive with significant horse experience, many have no experience. A rigorous 60-day training program ensures that all Soldiers in the CGMCG are expert horsemen prior to participation in public events.
Come see the CGMCG daily in TPEC Arena and at their encampment in the Stall Barn
The American Freedom Drill Team Riders from North Central Kansas return to EquiFest once again to entertain and open both arenas on Sunday. This team, established since 2012, has traveled to the Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty, Abilene’s Chisolm Trail Days, Lawrence Christmas Parade, Scott City Rodeo, all over Kansas, up to Nebraska and over to Missouri performing at rodeos, festivals and parades. They’ve even been known to give pony rides at these events. Some honors and highlights include performing at the Kansas State Fair in 2019 on Sept. 11th honoring America’s Veterans & Military and performing the opening ceremonies for Naval Officer Installations in Hutchinson. The AFDTR loves riding and loves celebrating this great country and the men and women who previously or currently serve in the military! God Bless America!

ANNOUNCERS
Mark Evans
Brett Wellden
Announcer Brett Wellden is a former rodeo contestant that has competed in bull riding, team roping, and bareback bronc riding. After many years of competition, he was presented with an offer to announce several rodeos. It was an offer that changed his life! Over the last two decades, he has become one of the most entertaining announcers in the rodeo and equine event industry. He has worked everything from the small- est amateur rodeo, livestock and horse shows, to large scale PBRs. He has been selected several times as a finals announcer for multiple associations and has received awards for his skill behind the mic. Brett is a former United States Marine with combat service which is reflected in his patriotic openings at events. He has also served 27+ years as a law enforcement officer in the Oklahoma City Metro area, mainly working narcotics cases. Brett lives in Guthrie, OK with his family. He travels with his kids, who have become three of the rockin'est sound technicians in all of pro rodeo! Brett has a strong faith in God and a profound love of this country and the heritage of the American cowboy.
Growing up on the ranch his granddad worked for, Mark became interested in horses, cattle, and rodeo. From a very young age, Mark was horseback helping his granddad. All through school, that is all he wanted to do. In school he started learning cowboy poetry where he was asked to perform at several organizations, benefits, and banquets. Seems he has always had the gift of gab. When old enough to start rodeoing, he wanted to ride bulls. He did not do well at being a bull rider, so he tried to become a bull fighter. Then, one day he realized he would be much better off using his God given talent to talk about the sport rather than doing it. He quickly found out he would last a lot longer and get paid for it too! It didn’t take long for Mark to find success in this trade. In 2006, he was selected at the Cowboys Regional Rodeo Association Announcer of the Year! In 2009, he joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association where he has worked several PRCA Rodeos for several years. In 2011, he was selected to work as the music director for the International Finals Rodeo where he has continued for 10 consecutive years. In 2016, Mark was chosen to work the Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo as music director. In 2018 he was selected to work as music director for the Columbia River Circuit Finals Rodeo and that same year was voted on by his peers to be named PRCA Top 5 Music Director of the Year. Mark states that he owes it all to his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, and he wouldn’t be here today if not for Him.
